Is there any explanation why there is a v3 and a v4 version of the same driver for the same platform for the same USB hub? WTF?
I just don't get it as it seems that Intel is updating those v3 drivers... could someone please explain this to me? otherwise there is no need for a v3 version anymore?

It happens very often, that Intel employees are working simultaneously on fifferent development branches of the same driver. They do it until they know, which is the better version branch.
The same happens currently with the Intel Chipset Device Software branches v10.1.1 and v10.1.2.

Hello Dieter,
I would like to extract the USB 3.1 drivers from the setup.exe. I want to slipstream them into my boot.wim file. How do I go about to do this.
Thanx in advance.

Very strange figures? Using a Kingston DRMC3/32GB flash I get the following benchmarks:
Kingston3.1 on 3.0 Port

Kingston3.1 on 3.1 Port
I use Intel USB3.1 driver ver 15.2.30.8

Such file name is very common. Can you give me a link to that special Setup.exe?

Thanks.
I was able to extract the included Intel USB 3.1 drivers 15.2.30.8 dated 07/12/2015. Which one (32/64bit) do you want?
Or shall I offer them within the start post of this thread?

#174 RE: USB 3.0 Drivers (original and modded) by eroder 04.09.2015 10:16

I need the 64 bit, but it would be nice to put it on the start page as Z170 chipsets are now starting to come in. I will keep my eye on any updated drives and give post the links as they come available. Thanx

The related Intel USB 3.1 drivers are attached (Update: The attached package has been meanwhile removed, because these drivers are now available within the start post.).

This will be done within the next 2 hours.

@ all:
Upon request I have added today the meanwhile available Intel USB 3.1 drivers to the start post of this thread.
Note:
The "pure" drivers can be integrated into the image of any 32/64bit Windows Operating System from Win7 up.

Update of the Start Post

Changelog:

  • new: 32/64bit Intel USB 3.1 Drivers v15.2.30.8 dated 07/12/2015
  • new: Intel USB 3.1 Drivers+Software Set v15.2.30.8 dated 07/13/2015 (already extracted)
  • removed: all original and modded Intel USB 3.0 Drivers v3.0.5.69 (the v3 line seems to be not further developed by Intel)

Good luck with these new Intel USB 3.1 drivers!
Fernando

@Fernando
Does this new driver v15.2.30.8 handles USB 3.0 as well USB 3.1 on any modern machine (Z77, X99) ?
Can we replace native MS USB 3.0 with this new one ?

... and give the Intel USB 3.0 Controllers the speed of the USB 3.1 ones????
That is just a dream, but has nothing to do with the reality.

You may be able to replace them (after a modification), but they will not work as they should.

#179 RE: USB 3.0/3.1 Drivers (original and modded) by eroder 04.09.2015 17:48

Using USB 3.1 drivers in stead of USB 3.0 does not work. I had to install both sets on my Z170 motherboard.

#180 RE: USB 3.0/3.1 Drivers (original and modded) by 100PIER 04.09.2015 18:06

@Fernando
The ASMEDIA 3.1 driver supports USB 3.1 AND USB 3.0 devices when plugged in. USB 3.0 devices runs at the speed of USB 3.0 standard, USB 3.1 devices runs at the speed of USB 3.1 device.
So, why this Intel driver USB 3.1 should not be able to do that ?
