Intel CSME System Tools v11 r36 - (2020-10-31) -> FWUpdate (LINUX64): 11.8.80.3762
Which to choose:
Intel CSME Firmware v11.8.80.3746 (CON H DA) -> 11.8.80.3746_CON_H_DA_PRD_RGN.bin
or
Intel CSME Firmware v11.8.81.3781 (CON H DA) -> 11.8.81.3781_CON_H_DA_PRD_RGN.bin
Can I expect problems if the version of Intel CSME Firmware is smaller than the version for FWUpdate?

Zitat von plutomaniac im Beitrag #5199

@ ibsajc:
Choose the latest. No problem with FWUpdate.

I can confirm that the Intel CSME Firmware update to version v11.8.81.3781 works properly in Linux.

Intel MEI Drivers & Software v2041.15.0.1893 DCH (Windows 10 >= 1709)
Intel MEI Drivers & Software v2044.15.0.1951 MSI (Windows 7, 8, 10 <= 1703)
Intel MEI Driver v2036.100.0.1024 (Windows 10 >= 1709)
Intel MEI Driver v2040.100.0.1029 (Windows 8, 10 <= 1703)
Intel MEI Driver v2040.100.0.1029 (Windows 7)

It seems those "100" drivers have merged LKF into the main branch so there is no need for a separate 13.30 driver anymore. My guess is that these "100" drivers aim to unify the various MEI platforms or something like that. Since I found 2044.15.0.1951 MSI from HP (official, OEM) and I like that LKF has been finally merged, I've switched to these newer drivers. Instructions on supported platforms and OS versions have been updated:

Zitat
A. About Intel MEI Drivers

The latest v15.0 DCH drivers are usable with (CS)ME 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 & 15 systems running under Windows 10 >= 1709. The latest v15.0 MSI drivers are usable with (CS)ME 10, 11 & 12 systems running under Windows 7, 8, 10 <= 1703. Users of systems with ME <= 9, must check Section D to find the driver they need. In order to check your current installed version, use Intel MEInfo tool as instructed below.

Note: To extract some of the files below you need to use programs which support RAR5 compression!

A1. Intel MEI Drivers & Software

These packages contain the Intel MEI drivers with their respective software & system services. It is advised to install these to enable all the Engine-related functionality. Since the Intel MEI Drivers & Software are OS version dependent, search & run "winver.exe" to determine your own.

Note: MEI Drivers & Software v2041.15.0.1893 DCH includes MEI v2036.100.0.1024. MEI Drivers & Software v2044.15.0.1951 MSI includes MEI v2040.100.0.1029.

A2. Intel MEI Driver Only

These packages contain only the Intel MEI Drivers without any additional software or system services. Installing these allow only very basic Engine-related functionality. Since the Intel MEI Driver is OS version dependent, search & run "winver.exe" to determine your own.

Note: The MEI Drivers listed above are part of the complete Drivers & Software packages found at section A1. A newer Drivers & Software package has newer Software but the actual MEI Driver may still be an older version.

I am not sure why this new v2036.100.0.1024 driver have slowed down my system a lot, like a lot, something with memory and I have suffered a lot of it, I rolled back to the older version 2035.15.0.1807, still using latest DAL and iCLS. I don't install the LMS as it caused issues in my system

#5243 RE: Intel Management Engine: Drivers, Firmware & System Tools by lfb6 21.11.2020 18:12

@foetopsy The first post of this thread covers upgrade and downgrade possibilities. Normal downgrade via Intel FWupdate tool dosn't seem to be possible because of different SVN numbers, so you would either have to use a ME region of an earlier bios, or if none of the earlier bioses includes the desired version, you'd have to create a ME region in the same manner that you would clean one (see [Guide] Clean Dumped Intel Engine (CS)ME/(CS)TXE Regions with Data Initialization )

Regarding getting the ME region into the SPI/ bios chip: It's unclear for me 1) if this board does have an Asus flashback option and 2) if Asus flashback does flash the complete bios or just the bios region. If that doesn't work you'd have to try the options to open the flash descriptor lock for the ME region or use a CH341 flasher.

In addition there's mentioned

Zitat von plutomaniac im Beitrag #1
that some platforms have the current TCB SVN and/or ARB SVN value permanently set/fused/burned in the Chipset so you cannot downgrade their firmware with another which has lower TCB SVN and/or ARB SVN.
I don't know if this is the case for the Z390 chipset.

So there's a chance of things not working out and a good backup and a CH341 programmer at hand could be useful.

What makes you think you have to downgrade?

there is a flashback, it only flashes the BIOS, the performance is not satisfied

What laptop are we talking about exactly? Do you have a SPI dump to compress and attach/link to, in order to verify that it is indeed PRE? You cannot change from PRE to PRD and vice versa.

@plutomaniac

Hey, so I'm stumped on something...

My System:
CPU - i9900K
Mobo - Asus WS Z390 Pro

I have only 1 remaining yellow Flag in my Device Manager;
-PCI Simple Communications Controller.
From what I've read it is the Intel Management Engine Drivers.

I tried installing your Windows 7 IME Installer Driver; I get "Platform is not supported". The Win 7 folder shows in the subcategory.
I also tried installing your standalone driver, through Device Manager browse, it did not find anything. The .inf and .sys files are in there.

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong here.

Hardware IDs:
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_A360&SUBSYS_86941043&REV_10

Intel MEI Drivers & Software v2044.15.0.1951 DCH (Windows 10 >= 1709)
Intel MEI Driver v2040.100.0.1029 (Windows 10 >= 1709)

@ Freeza:

The v15 MSI drivers support (CS)ME 10 & 11 under Windows 7, not 12. CSME 12 is additionally supported under Windows 8 & 10 <= 1709. You should look at older driver branches (v14 maybe) at Station-Drivers or similar which probably still supported CSME 12 under Windows 7.

Thank you for responding, but I did not try with those.

Intel MEI Driver v2040.100.0.1029 (Windows 7)

This statement confused me a bit; as I am new to this information.

But what I got from that is, v14 or V12 may work for me.

v14 I found these:
https://ftp.station-drivers.com/index.ph...&id=624&lang=en
And these:
https://www.driveridentifier.com/scan/in...8086%26DEV_A360

I noticed in the last link it identified v14 and a v12, which is exactly what you stated.

I did a rock, paper, scissors, and installed a random V14 and it corrected the PCI Simple Communications Controller Flag.

But my question is, which one of these should I actually use? or does it not matter?
