Thanks guys ASM1042 on P9X79 Deluxe could be updated to 130125_00_02_00 and working perfectly!!

Firstly, I had tried to update the firmware from 120816_02_02_6D (which is available at ASUS website) to 140124_10_10_04 but downgraded to 100803_00_00_0D
And then, successfully updated from 100803_00_00_0D to 130125_00_02_00

I love @Fernando, Win-RAID Forum, and you all!!

Hello,

before I tell you about my problem I would like to thank everyone in this thread, I found it yesterday and it was deeply interesting.

I have an ASROCK Z68 Extreme 7 Gen 3. Till yesterday I had no USB 3.0 device so I never encountered any problems.
The drivers and firmwares I use are always updated as soon as I find something new. ( Might not be always the best way to do so ;) )
The firmware I used for my Asmedia 1042 was 120816_02_02_6D ( The one from ASUS V30 I think ). I updated it without backing up the stock firmware. :( Maybe one year ago.
I can't format the external HDD drive, if it is connected to an USB 3.0 slot ( tested all slots ) neither copy files to it. If it's connected to an USB 2 slot it works fine, but sure it's not that fast.

I tried the drive on my laptop which uses a Renesas Chip for the USB 3.0 slot and there is no problem, the HDD works fine there.
I already contacted ASROCK to get the stock firmware for the ASmedia Chips. Hope that they can help me with that. Having the stock firmware would be great. But maybe someone here can help.
Yesterday I updated to 130125 from lordkags post #75
With the latest driver from ASRock I get a bluescreen as soon as I connect the drive to an USB 3.0 slot.
1.16.1.0
With the latest driver from station-drivers I can neither copy files to the hdd nor format it.
1.16.25.1

What is weird is that the devicemanager shows SVID: 1B21 and SSID: 1042
the /d command shows SVID: 1849 and SSID: 1042

I also added the BIOS I currently use, just in case it might be useful.CurrentBios
Would be great to get this USB3.0-slots working again?! or better for the first time!

Thanks for the warm welcome Fernando,

I have a small update on the problem but still no solution so far.
ASRock contacted me and send the stock firmware and a driver ( DriverVer=11/15/2010,1.2.9.0 ) which wont install but besides it seems to old.

The Firmware is 101118_01_05_11 ( 1118_151.bin )
The update passed through without problems, but I still cant format the external HDD. On a Usb2.0 slot there is still no issue.

I was able to /A the stock firmware and took screenshots from the results.

@Orsox

Since you never tested your original firmware with USB3 devices, it is difficult to locate the problem. But having the stock firmware with issues on its own, it might be an incompatibility with the external HDD. What model it is and have you checked its manufacturer for any manual, have you checked if others have expressed similar issues on different boards or USB3 chipsets?

The controller and firmware are indeed ASM1042, so you should be able to use 120816_02_02_6D and 130125_00_02_00 without fear of incompatibility. If others have posted no issues with latest 130125 (on the contrary, all of them mentioned better stability) and there are quite a few of these reports, I would check the HDD itself. If it is possible, can you check with other external USB3 HDDs, that are of different generation and OEM?

Finally, the SVID has nothing to do with it. As you can see, the flasher it is reading the internal ID, which is seen in Device Manager as SUBSYS_10421849 or 1849-1042.
