My problem could be in press F7 during setup which disable HAL, maybe machine type is some how wrong, i checked unattended nlite settings, there are quite few machine types..

There is some info about it for Win 2000:

I dunno, do you know some diagnostic report, which i could provide?
Now is machine type - MPS Multiprocesor PC, its some problem with that?

Otherwise - i made VIA USB3 805 working through SDI tool driver downloader, after started worked even PS/2 mouse.

Hint for other people - there 2 ways how to integrate driver for Windows Xp install, 1st nlite ISO modification, 2nd valid for YUMI USB and RMPrepUSB - bough are using firadisk floppy virtual image, which could be edited by tools like Winimage - 30 days trial - here you can add drivers files, but i you need also add them to txtsetup.oem menu and after that you can load them through press F6 wizzard. Some driver have done txtsetup.oem as part of driver.. only problem is when you want to merge more drivers - you need to merge txtsetup.oem
For discovery of IP address - nlite adapter setting not worked for me, you can set unanttended -run once to:
ipconfig
PAUSE
Or use some IP adress scanner like angry ip scan - it worked for me.

I found out about firadisk image from this tutorial:
http://www.overclockers.com/forums/showt...0-A-motherboard // This is musi RMprepUSB - because there is zillion uncesserary steps..
I personally preferer vanilla SP3 iso + nlite, where you can integrate unonfficial SP4 and drivers, setup unattended setup (i have to because i had not input devices) - create iso, start YUMI add iso as XP installer.. Optimal step, replace firadisk in /ISO folder.

I also found out that if is firadisk already on ISO and you try to load it from F6 menu, you will got firadisk files not found error.

You could also integrate drivers packs XP files from there with nlite:
http://driverpacks.net/downloads

I cant confirm that all will work, i got some txtsetup.oem problem with some packages, but LAN drivers are ok, probably sata or chipset drivers have own txtsetup.oem files which are in conflict with standard installation.. You could experiment where are something like ultimate XP dvd with all drivers.

There one strange thing with nlite, even when you save sesssion - no unattended info is saved.. and if you want to small edit, you need edit all unattended settings - maybe because of passwords..

How to install Windows XP on EVGA X299 Dark?

I've been roaming around this forum for the past few days, and honestly it helped me a lot getting XP to just pass the first stage with the help from @Fernando with the awesome modded drive. Thanks a lot.

After reading through your topic @XPLives, and I believed this is the right place to ask for help with my problem. I am having issue with keyboard not working at the XP setup stage where it asked me where to install the OS. I know that XP doesn't support USB 3.0, and my laptop doesn't have p/s2 ports, so I bought a p/s2 adapter to connect the p/s2 keyboard that I have to my laptop usb port. Unfortunately, it's not working. I even tried both built-in keyboard and usb keyboard but had no luck.

Now I am just stuck at this setup screen where I can't go anymore. I am wondering if there's something that I haven't tried, and maybe you or anyone else can help me with this.

Thanks a lot, regardless.

P.S I reformatted my hard disk to MBR, so it's just a blank laptop right now. I believed I did everything right, and the keyboard is playing with my soul.

Intel(R) core(TM) i5-7200U CPU @2.50GHZ

@Never:
Welcome to the Win-RAID Forum!

I am unsure, whether you will get a reply from our Forum member and XP Guru XPLives, because he hasn't been online here since March.
Maybe >this< discussion will give you an answer to your question.

Good luck!

1) xp support usb3.0 if you have driver from vendor, intel don't released drivers
2) any usb adapter/device will not work if 1) not work
3) desktop MBs have software ps/2 emulation of usb keyb/mouse. Enabled in bios setting.
On laptops bios has very little options, but you can check for hidden option in IFR dump

One question... what will happen if we install XP on compatible hardware (example Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge or earlier) and then put the HDD/SSD in the "officially non supported" PC (Kaby Lake, Coffe Lake etc.), could this work?

#102 RE: [Guide] How to install Windows XP OS on Modern Hardware - Z170 Z270 SkyLake Kaby Lake by Fernando 25.10.2018 08:30

@deSSy2724:
Since I have never tried that, I cannot give you a serious answer. Try it and report about your result!
Important preconditions:

  1. The source and the target PC must have an Intel chipset.
  2. Both systems must be bootable off the related HDD/SSD, which contains the OS and the boot sector.
That means, that the system drive of the source and the target PC should be
    a) connected to an Intel SATA Controller,
    b) managed by an Intel AHCI/RAID driver, which natively supports both PCs.

I agree with Fernando - Win7-10 would be OK with that and would simply update the drivers on first boot, XP only you can find out and let us know
Make sure SATA Setting (IDE/AHCI) is same on target system as the system you move it from, or that you enable all three IDE/AHCI/RAID boot on the system before you shut it down to move the disk.

Zitat
Enable switching between all IDE/AHCI/RAID modes by changing "Start" Values in these keys to 0 in the registry

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Msahci\Start
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Pciide\Start
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\iaStorV\Start

I have installed a fresh Windows XP SP3 (used original/untouched .iso, hashes compared so im sure its not altered in any way) AND I integrated only a single AHCI driver for HP Compaq 6720s (digged up from the dust) with Intel CPU and AHCI mode enabled ofc and I would like to try that "XP 32bit prepared HDD" on my cousins Kaby Lake system with Intel Core i5 7400 and MSI B250M PRO-VDH B250 So.1151 mATX since I currently dont have a "more modern" PC in front of me (only up to Sandy Bridge).

This may not work... im not so sure, but anyway, do you know where are the drivers actually located after the installation? And is it possible to change one AHCI driver to another AHCI driver from anothers PC (example with help of the external USB HDD/SDD docking stations)?

#105 RE: [Guide] How to install Windows XP OS on Modern Hardware - Z170 Z270 SkyLake Kaby Lake by deSSy2724 02.11.2018 01:56

Im not sure I understand your HDD/SSD paritioning part......

1. 98SE needs to use FAT32 but why no NTFS for XP? And can you use MS-DOS games/applications trough Win98SE?

2. Can we use USB to PS/2 adapter for mouse and keyboard for installing windows xp?

3. No audio from onboard motherboar ports on Win XP?

My main goal is to setup WinXP 32bit and Win10 64bit but 98SE would be a great bonus (Ms-dos).
