#571 RE: NVIDIA: Optimized nForce Driverpacks for Vista/Win7-10 by Mx 02.06.2018 07:11

Hi,

which of the driverpacks is the best for my System and a fresh Win7 install.

My System is a A8N32-SLI Deluxe board with the NVIDIA nForce4 SLI X16 chip and Realtek ALC850 Audio codec.
I think i use it in IDE mode?
My SSD is connected via an ASUS U3S6 (Marvell 91xx) SATA3 controller card.

best regards
Mx

@Mx:
Welcome to the Win-RAID Forum!

If you should not be satisfied with the Win7 in-box drivers or if some nForce drivers are missing, I recommend for you to install the nForce4 WHQL driverpack v9.0.

Your nForce chipset SATA Controller only supports IDE or RAD, no AHCI.

Good luck!

I was a little impatient and installed the Latest nForce Driverpacks for Win7-10 and Realtek AC'97 Codec Audio Driver v63.05 WHQL for Vista/Win7 x64.
But it seem to work. And yeah Win7 offered me the missing drivers via WinUpdate, but I was not sure if thats a good idea.
Are there any known problemes with the Latest nForce Driverpacks for Win7-10 and the NVIDIA nForce4 SLI X16?

As long as everything works fine, I would not change anything regarding the nForce drivers.
You are now using the latest and probably best available ones.

Hi Fernado,

I found your site just before going to bed. I spent most of the day reading, trying different versions of drivers on a new install of win 10 without success.

My system is working just fine for win7, but is on a platter drive (HDD) which I am upgrading to SSD 500GB on a EVGA 780i 132-CK-NF78 motherboard. I am hoping to extend the life some on this by giving it a fresh coat of paint. Are the drivers viable for this? I am not running a raid configuration as this is a spare pc and once it goes down that is it. The CPU is an intel core duo wolfdale running at 3.0 for now, but was at 3.6MHz comfortably.

What are your thoughts on this? Would I be better sticking with win7 or can I use win 10? I will log on and read through all the post, but not tonight. Thanks for any help.

@Blewstar:
Welcome to the Win-RAID Forum!

Since you are obviously running your nForce 780i (MCP55) system in IDE mode, you should be able to get Win10 properly installed.
Due to the fact, that NVIDIA has stopped the development and the release of updated nForce chipset drivers in 2009/2010, you may not even need any of my "Optimized nForce Driverpacks", which I am offering within the start post of this thread.
This is what I recommend to do:
1. Install the OS and all Updates, which are offered by Microsoft.
2. Run the Device Manager and look for yellow flagged devices with missing/not working drivers.
If you should find any, right-click onto the related device and check its HardwareIDs by choosing the options "Properties" > "Details" > "Property" > "HardwareIDs".
Please report your results and I will give you an advice regarding the appropriate driver.
Good luck!

@Fernando:

I had installed windows 7 when I made the thread. Loading service pack 1 and June's updates. I checked device manager and other than my sound card, there were no warning indicator's. I updated sound card and then activated windows. I went to microsofts site using the media installation for win 10.

win 10 installed without issue. The nvidia window drivers for my gtx 460 came across as well as my SB X-fi sound card. I opened device manager and no explanation points, but did notice some new icons that I am not familiar with. Here is a link that shows a picture of them https://www.tenforums.com/drivers-hardwa...ce-manager.html

Should I be concern at all about these? Just like the poster it seems everything is working. Here is where I see them:

Display adapters
Nvidia GeForce GTX 460

IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers
ATA Channel 0
ATA Channel 1
Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller

Storage Controllers
Microsoft Storage Spaces Controller
Nvidia nForce Serial ATA Controller
Nvidia nForce Serial ATA Controller
Nvidia nForce Serial ATA Controller

The icons are so small it is hard to understand them. Appreciate your help

@Blewstar:
As long as your nForce chipset system runs fine and the Device Manager doesn't show any yellow flagged device, there is nothing to worry about.
The screenshot of the Device Manager doesn't indicate any missing or faulty driver.

I'm sure you're tired of that reference aren't you Fernando???

I just wanted to thank you for your forum because after a couple years of seeing that Yellow Exclamation Point on an unknown device, you finally helped me find the right drivers for it!!!!
I'm running Windows 10 and as you know driver support for the Nvidia's nForce chipset (in my case: Away Mode Driver v6.0.6000.115) WHQL ended 8 years ago!!

Thanks to you I have an "updated" driver for the device and I can stop pulling out the hair on my already shaved head!!

Have a great weekend and keep up the GOOD WORK!!! I really appreciate it!!
