Thanks much for posting this. I am in the same situation as you were.
I purchased the CH341a programmer. and i found all the necessary drivers/files/apps.

I am fairly certain something is seriously wrong since when i read the BIOS IC, it was all FFFFFFF.
I saved it anyway, and then erased the IC.
Regardless, i am trying to write the new bios.bin and now i encounter an error that BIOS.BIN (17350240) is larger than the IC size (16777216)

Any ideas? IT would be a huge help

EDIT : I found a newer version, Asprogrammer 2.1.0.13. it has the BIOS chip in the IC dropdowns, macronix ,MX25U12873F_1.8V
but still the size discrepancy is an issue

EDIT2 : Somehow i got my laptop to boot. I am missing the key information in the bios since i wiped it, i am not sure the consequences of that. but in the meantime my laptop has a screen again!

Read with 1.8V adapter? File may have capsule, no link to file or model? Check structure with UEFIToolNE.

I am using the 1.8v adapter. Whether correctly or not is the question, i am a noob at this and never did i imagine it would get to this.
I found an old bios file (the first?) that is 13,421 KB so i am trying that now. and crossing my fingers.

it wrote successfully. whether the laptop can boot is yet to be seen.

I would add these tips to the step-by-step list, after many hours of pulling my hair out googling and trying to read/write from the IC.

* use asprogrammer 2.0+ so it has the native IC in the dropdown list. (i used 2.1.0.13)
* the CH341a programmer from Amazon is VERY FINNICKY with the cable. do not bother reading/writing to the BIOS IC unless you can "detect chip" successfully. a huge mistake on my part. the led light on the programmer was lit red, and i thought that meant it was a successful connection. it is not. it took me about 30 attempts to place the clip on the bios successfully.
* the latest bios (1.31) is larger than the IC size. you need to extract the body of it using an UEFI tool. (i used UEFI Tool 0.28.0)
* at that point you should replace your machine-specific info using a hex editor, which i did not. since i did not successfully read my initial bios file.
* AS programmer has a dropdown next to the "program ic" button. i would select all of them (off-protect, erase, blank check, write, verify)
* Another forum said you have to use specific drivers for the CH341a. Version 1.18. I am not sure if that is true or not.
* definitely read your initial bios and save it multiple times, so you can read your machine info and put it into the new BIOS file.

* the links for the CH341a are not easy to find.
* complete list of programs used/files needed : ASProgrammer, CH341a drivers, UEFITool, the latest drivers from lenovo, and INNOextract (i used 1.9 for window)

sadly if i had to do this all again it would probably be less than 30 minutes now that i know. but the initial learning curve was steep.

@ifb6, Somebody else posted their bios. not me... i believe you are referring to Cowlikks's question? i did not post my bios.

@Plastixx , i am Re-reading posts. they are intermingled with someone else seeking help (cowlikk), apologies.

I am surprised you have a different bios model with the same model and issue, but what do i know.

@Plastixx Thanks for the efforts. unfortunately it didn't help. I got as good flash and verify but it still does the same thing. perhaps something else is going on with it.

hello I have the same problem, I was updating the BIOS and the power weynt out. At the moment I have not been able to fix the problem, and my IC is mx25u12873f . Follow these steps
1 download the BIOS file
2 I extracted .cap with innoextract
3 I copied the region they say with UEFITool and export it as .bin
4 I tried programming the IC with the ones that some had the similar name in Asprogrammer but it didn't work.

it is happening to me that the bios is not written, the data protection is at 010000000000000 (0x40) .
