as i remembered (the am2+ to support am3, 65nm 775 to support 45nm 775), to support new cpu, microcode is not the only thing to do, there are some more module to replace to support them like agesa..

I bet it would allow you to use a newer generation of cpu as long as its pin per pin compatible with your socket. Only one way to find out for sure!

I have AsRock Z87 Extreme 4 mobo with Intel I217V NIC. When I tried to update lates 3.20 bios with UBU version 1.41, I got below error;

On Asus Z170 Deluxe, I manually replaced vbios, then used UBU for the rest of the modules. Actually it can't replace Intel OROM, but just the EFI ffs; may someone point me to the correct GUID for manual replacing?
Another question, please: I tried replacing microcode, but bios has 3A/1E (2 times) while i get only the 4A (2 times) after replacement. Is this safe and correct?

Is this UBU version tool had been updated from v1.41 to v1.41.1 on the OneDrive redirected link?
Looks to me it's still the previous v1.41....

To be honest, I have just missed the UBU update from v1.41 to v1.41.1, whch was done by SoniX yesterday.
Now the OneDrive Mirror link is up-to-date as well.

It is very safe (nearly as safe as driving a car).

Many thanks, I read your previous post, but I think Asus has a different bios structure: UBU finds a 3A and a 1E module, but I just get the 4A after replacement.
I would test it, I just want to be sure that flashback may reflash bios even if microcode is f****ed up.

there are both BDW / HSW microcode in the bios listed. but only one microcode either BDW or HSW left after updating. does that mean i have to know which cpu (BDW or HSW) Currently installed before updating microcode?
