I posted a reply for you on the GPU UPD thread, the vBIOS you uploaded F1-F2 did not have UEFI module so would never be able to boot Secure boot/UEFI Mode.
I also uploaded updated vBIOS there for that card, all should boot UEFI mode now. If not, then vBIOS in the motherboard BIOS may need updated as well

I believe I have one of these motherboard here, if either of you need me to set it up and figure out / test anything, let me know.

Sorry about not responding in the other thread, real-life intervened. I was, at the time, considering asking for an option in GOPUpd to entirely remove the GOP header. This is because my motherboard, an ASUS P8Z68 PRO/GEN3 simply won't POST with any video card which has a GOP if the EFI BOOT option is enabled. After reading dozens of posts here, I realized other people had pointed this out as the board has an early and incomplete UEFI subsystem. See here.

So the better option would be to fix/mod the boards BIOS instead.

I have attached a modded BIOS for the P8Z68 P/G3 which includes the EFI SandyBridge GOP driver and the Intel EFI RaidDriver 12.9.2006 module and a few other upgrades. It boots fine in Legacy mode of course, but it still hangs during POST if EFI BOOT is enabled. (clear CMOS and its ok) So I dunno what's missing. Maybe it's UEFI core isn't calling the GOP driver at all, in which case I need an expert modders assistance.

@kevindd992002 posted a beta bios for the P8Z68 GEN3 (not Pro) that supposedly posts/boots with EFI BOOT enabled. I've PM'd him for a copy, as the link is broken now. @davidm71 might have a copy too. Lordkag highlights the likely altered modules a few posts later.

AFAIK the only difference between the Pro and not-Pro is that the Pro supports an additional Marvell SATA and a Jmicron eSATA. If we could find a copy of the Beta bios, perhaps it would be possible to transplant the four altered UEFI modules to the Pro board. ??

If you have a board to test on (ie: to risk bricking) ...if the code can be transplanted, that is, then that would make you the ideal tester! If we can get this working, it would make a sweet final (or semi-final) Bios for users of this board, as it already has a lot of nice additions vs the final official bios.

Please can anyone upload modified bios for ASUS P8Z68-V gen 3? I just bought this mobo secondhand and having problems with booting SSD in EFI! I have the latest official bios version from 2012 and thats already real old! I dont understand why Asus doesnt update their bios. I need a working bios with fully working EFI boot and usb issues fixed. Everytime i plug in usb stick in frontpanel the system even bios freezes cant move mouse nothing. Why is this mobo so bugged? I already have windows 10 installed on my SSD from previous build. That mobo died so thats why i bought ASUS P8Z68-V gen 3 to find out its even worse than my asrock z68 extreme3 gen3. That mobo atleast has full EFI support. Anyways I know for a fact that you can just use a SSD with OS installed from other build and move it to other systems. Bios and windows automaticly detects everything. It always worked! But now not with this strange mobo pfff. The problem is bios doesnt see the bootloader from my SSD. It cant find BCD. My SSD is installed with gpt partition. I guess Asus mobo has problems with EFI and GPT. That much i have figured out. So can someone be kind enough to send me the modified bios? Those links dont work anymore. You will save me alot of work. I dont wanna format c. I wanna use my SSD with OS installed. Its a fresh install from 2 months ago! The P8Z68 board line up has bugged UEFI and only partially works. I recommend you run it in 'Legacy' mode and use a EFI Shell program, like the ones provided in with the Clover bootloader, to manually add your OS installation to the UEFI bootmenu. Goes something like this : bcfg boot add 3 fs1:\EFI\BOOT\BOOTX64.EFI "Windows Installation". After you do this you will see you windows installation in your bios boot menu. Not sure if I have the structure correct but I think thats how its suppose to be. Make sure you type 'Map -r" to get a list of your partitions and drives within the shell. Look for your windows EFI partition. Each partition/drive has an fs(x) numerical designation. Could be fs1: or fs0: so once you find it type fs0: (assuming its fs0) to go there. Typing 'LS' will give you a directory listing. Find your EFI folder and look for BOOT folder holding bootx64.efi. Then type "bcfg boot dump" to find how many boot entries you have. If the last one is #4 then type: bcfg boot add 5 fs0:\efi\boot\bootx64.efi "Windows".

Its easiest to create a Clover boot disk for this purpose. You could even use Clover to boot your install and probably get updated features to your bios like missing nvme support and such. Also note that you might need to find a really old version of the Shellx64.efi file needed to do all this. Maybe not. Hopefully Clover's efi shell be compatible with your board. However you could also create a FAT/FAT32 usb disk and copy shellx64.efi and your board should have an option that says 'boot usb shell' or something without needing clover. Instructions are out there if you google search.

Personally though think Asus dropped the ball here by not fixing or updating UEFI spec on that board. I never could get any graphic card to post past the logo in EFI mode. As far as what bios I had for this board was just one modified with the NVME_dxe.efi clover module I discovered few years back. I would post to the Adding NVME support thread and see if someone could help you out with that or you could just download the NVME_DXE efi driver and use MMTool to add it to your bios file. Might want to try even adding CSMVideo.efi from Clover to your bios but that would be risky and wouldn't attempt without flash programmer. Would recommend you take a dump of your bios and take note of the serial numbers (believe theres an app for that) before getting complicated with the video. Would share my bios but mine was the standard P8V68 non-gen3 version. Plus I'm quarantined away from home.

Sorry, I neither have a copy of the modified BIOS anymore nor that actual board anymore. I've upgraded to an updated generation a few years back.

Interestingly, p8z68 gen3 uses the unreleased 9903 version, adding Intel-IvyBridge_GopDriver_v3.0.1030 and Intel_SandyBridge_GopDriver_v2.0.1024,
Without vbt, in sleep mode, press the keyboard to wake up the computer and instantly display the desktop. No delay.
Under the cold start, also solved, asus old fault (twice start phenomenon)

You stated that the initial beta BIOS for your old P8Z68-V/GEN3 failed; could you confirm that the 9903 BIOS you eventually used fixed booting in EFI mode with your discrete card(s) installed?
I ask as I obtained a download for the file (dated 26th June 2015) and have successfully modded it for NVMe booting in my own recently-purchased P8Z68-V/GEN3.
With the iGPU, it will not boot in EFI Compatible mode and hangs with the red VGA LED lit, whether GOP files are installed or not - legacy mode works fine.
Does BIOS 9903 require a discrete GPU be installed to work in EFI Compatible mode?
I'm thinking of buying a discrete GPU but this is pointless if 9903 still doesn't work.
Could you please confirm?

im Asus P8Z68-V Pro GEN3 so could experiement extracting the modules.

Asus made a great board overall but the lack of full eufi support is such a drop the ball as it was a flag ship board in the day.

Since you always ask for more details, I'm sure you won't mind some advices for contacting Asus support:
- try to put all in one message, not too long and not too many. You risk being left aside if you go too far.
- add your system specs, just important components. They are probably going to ask about it, so better cover it from the beginning.
- explain the problem, steps to reproduce.
- tell them you already have the latest GOP for your card, but don't tell them how you got it. They will use this "custom firmware" as an excuse to close your ticket without solving it.
- show that there is already a confirmation and a fix for this issue. See the links above. The actual fix is in the PciBus module.
- you could try to ask for all further fixes to be added into this new UEFI, but consider that they might also push new bugs.
- if they don't fix this, you will know how to thank them on your next purchase.

Here's some update about this issue.
I stumbled upon this thread while searching infos for my P8P67 Pro that has the same issue, the P8P67 is same the same generation and is rather close to P8Z68.
I wished I could have found some unreleased beta BIOS like kevindd992002 did for his P8Z68 but I could not.
The "EFI compatible" ROM priority setting in BIOS just ends on a stalled boot with the red VGA error LED on the motherboard, in other words, GOP support just does not work, whatever the card you use.

So I started to dig into the BIOS with AMIBCP, UEFITool and MMTool, and I finally managed to enable GOP with BIOS 3602.
I changed it with some custom module found on the web (hermitCSM) and I activated the hidden CSM support option in boot pane of BIOS menu with AMIBCP.
I then enabled the EFI priority and disabled CSM support, GOP driver then kicked in and displayed as it should.
I don't think you really need to disable CSM support actually, however I found that toggling "above 4G decoding" has a big impact on the behavior, depending on the used GFX card (will stall again after launching GOP), while it doesn't using legacy VGA.
My interpretation is that there's some incompatibility with the stock CSMVideo module that will always load and interfere, even if you use GOP. By replacing it, you don't really use it since it's disabled, but at least it doesn't prevent GOP from running.
I tried to simply remove the CSMVideo module and make BIOS boot with full EFI by default, but it won't post this way, so the best I found so far is to put that "dummy" driver, maybe a real dummy driver would be better (ie a module that is present and valid but does nothing).
I also got a look to the CSMVideo from the beta Z68 BIOS, but it doesn't seem so different (1 or 2 bytes differs), I haven't tried but I doubt that it would change a thing.
I doubt the CSMVideo is responsible by itself, it's probably more its management with something like CSMCore that is wrong in loading it every time, but this workaround does work.
This probably can be generalized to all cards of the same family plagued with the same bug.
Any idea or better solution is welcome, I might give a modded BIOS for P8P67 Pro when I feel more comfortable with the fix and its behavior.

Since my Ozmosis days I have always wondered what would happen if the CSMvideo file was replaced with the Hermitcrabs version on the Asus P8Z68 series of motherboards. I personally own the P8PZ68 Deluxe Gen 1 board. Got it setup with Clover dual booting Win 10 and Mac OSX. That EFI boot priority always pissed me off. Right now Clover is emulating EFI boot but I see my boot logo show up twice. Once full screen at 640x480 res and then again taking a quarter of the screen when Windows 10 loads its spinning circle up. Perhaps you see something similar with HermitCSM.

Anyhow if you have a gen 1 board like me recommend you try taking the CSMCore driver from a gen 2 board's bios. See what happens. Make sure you have bios rom programmer handy just in case you brick the board. I'm curious to see what would happen if I did the same CSM video mod. Maybe I'll try it out. Shame Asus never fixed this issue.
