What I mean is that, if you do it with a batch file, there needs to be a copy command on one line, only one, not more, took me about a week and some nerves to get to know this, had the 'missing driver' error, like you.

Well, I didn't do it via script; I manually integrated the NVMe hotfixes one by one via DISM /add-driver (or /add-package) from command line (with elevated administrator rights, of course). For the Z390 drivers, I also used the /forceunsigned parameter.

I recall, it was three - another one besides KB2990941 and KB3087873. But maybe I recall it wrong and there are indeed only 2 NVMe hotfixes - I'll check it out again...

Have to do a clean reinstall of W7.
I can see that a System Reserved partition was created when I did my first install.
Hoping you'll still be able to guide me through
the process of clean partitioning/conversion so
it's a completely clean reinstall.

Hey pvmt7,

Sorry for my delayed response - I was busy the last days and I had to prepare myself for my response, so I can adequately help you

The steps described below are NOT explained in detail - I'll do that in the next couple of hours or till tomorrow, so you know how to perform these steps

If you want to do a clean reinstall of Windows (be it 7, 8 or 10 - doesn't matter), you should do these initial steps:

1.) Wipe all your drives clean by using diskpart in command prompt from Windows Setup media (DVD, USB boot stick) with the command "clean" (without the quote symbols). However, this is only "basic cleaning" (to delete existing partitions); the actual wipe/erase operation is step 2.)

[Important: DON'T DO THIS on your secondary/other drives, if they are data drives or contain other operating systems (Linux, OSX, etc.) or other Windows versions -> either wipe only the primary drive (where you want to install Win7) or make a backup of your other drives before performing this step! This also applies for step 2 and step 3 !]

2.)

for SSDs: Do a Secure Erase either by:

- using tools provided by your SSD manufacturer (e.g. Samsung Magician)
- or issuing ATA Security Erase (SE)/Enhanced Security Erase (ESE) command (or better: ATA Sanitize "Block Erase" -> use this instead, if your drive supports it!)
- and/or PSID Revert (if your SSD offers this function)

in order to completely reset all SSD cells and wipe it clean of data. This will also restore original SSD performance to factory zero. For NVMe-SSDs, you might need to run nvme-cli from a linux session (e.g. Linux Live-CD) or you can use PartedMagic to perform this step or you can do a PSID Revert, if your NVMe-SSD supports it.

for HDDs:

- use ATA Enhanced Security Erase (if available) or ATA Security Erase - these functions are old and deprecated and...
- ...ATA Sanitize is their successor; for HDDs it only supports the method "Overwrite" (SANITIZE OVERWRITE EXT command) - however, this command is dangerous and it could brick your HDD!!! So better use...
- ...badblocks instead! (from a Linux session)

Once completed, the HDD will also be completely erased and zeroed.

3.) convert all your drives to GPT format by starting up diskpart again (from a Windows Setup media command prompt) and entering the command "convert gpt" (again, without quote symbols) for each drive after selecting the corresponding drive.

4.) create partitions according to recommended Microsoft partition scheme for UEFI/GPT-based drives.

Cluster Size/Allocation Unit Size: (when creating a partition with diskpart)

For SSDs: either use 4KB (which is industry standard nowadays) or you can use higher sizes of 8KB or 16KB, which *might* enhance SSD performance. (it could also worsen performance - so use at your own risk!)

For HDDs: if you have games and/or a lot of large files on your HDD, then use 64KB - or you can leave it at it's standard/default value (4KB), if you want to.

5.) Install Windows.

So far for now...

Hi canonkong . A lot of thanks for such titanic efforts with win7 drivers. I've installed your SHA256 USB3.1 drivers on my Z390D mainboard with win7x64 and yes, it's OK. But you've mentioned that you have the Nvidia GTX16XX RTX20XX USB-C drivers for win7. Where can i download them? Again, thanx a lot!

Hi everyone
I have PC with Win7 32 bit running on Intel b365.
I can fully operate it via Remote Desktop but I cannot install drivers for 3 devices
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_A36D&SUBSYS_843C103C&REV_10 USB Controller
ACPI\ACPI000E
ACPI\HPIC0003
Is very any way to instal USB to use local HID devices ? Thx

Yes I did, I ve tried to install every driver from this tread using dpinst32.exe. Maybe i didnt find the right file ?
Also i did manual install - edited inf file

My turn to apologize for late response.
Did a clean re install all working fine... except,..

There are a few audio plug ins whose GUI's are blank or the area
that is misisng is filled in by the background of the program I'm opening them in.
I've tracked down info and it's connected to the graphics,specifically that
in device manager/display adapters
Standard VGA Graphics Adapter is al that is listed.
So the intel graphics driver needs to be installed.
Downloaded the intel (R) HD 630 graphics drivers, which are supposed to be compatible
with the Z390A and the intel i9 9900k cpu .
But when I go to install the drivers I get this error message;

The driver selected for this device does not support this version of Windows.

Not sure what the issue may be.

Hi guys maybe you can help. Managed to install WIN 7 (ROG STRIX Z390-H GAMING) but I can't find drivers for Network Controller ,PCI Device and Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller. Any help will be greatly appreciated

Most of your drivers can be downloaded on intel.com, I cant post links. But you can search for
"Intel® Management Engine Driver for Windows 7"

For Network "Intel® Network Adapter Driver for Windows 7 (Version: 25.0 )" or "Intel® Ethernet Adapter Complete Driver Pack Version: 25.0"

Test Intel RST drivers from the v17 platform or v18 platform there is a thread on this forum

Unsure what usb that will work have you tested Intel USB Controller 3.1 Driver 17.2.70.3
and 3.0 5.0.4.43_v2?

you can search on Intel.com for "z390" to find drivers that work for your motherbord
