I did, but how can I verify that I can plug NVMe SSDs as bootable device now? I have not NVMe SSD here, I was planing buy the upcoming Samsung 960 EVO... I was checking in CSM option in the BIOS boot menu, and I can select boot from storage devices and boot from PCI-E/PCI Expansion Devices in UEFI mode. Legacy OPROM and UEFI controller to choose in boot from PCI-E/PCI Expansion Devices. I have flashed correctly?

I read the topics about the BIOS modding and I registered to ask a few questions, since some of the things are not quite clear to me. I hope you can help me out a bit.

I have a Gigabyte GA-X79-UD5 motherboard and I recently purchased a samsung NVMe stick (SM951) along with an pcie adapter, I`ll come to that later.

My question is. The latest official BIOS available for this motherboard is F13w, I have flashed it because I had some issues with stability with v. F12.
Now, I read the topic about the UBU tool and I "played" with it a bit and I`m wondering if there are any consequences to having the latest versions of the BIOS components -ROMs? (raid, lan, cpu microcodes..) or is the latest always greatest?

Another question I have is about the NVMe component insertion. Before I came across this forum I found a website which said to extract the NVMe parts from x99 or z9x motherboard BIOS (in my case I found all the parts in a Z97X-UD3H motherboard BIOS) with MMtool and then insert them into my own BIOS.

Then I come here and I see there is only ONE file you use to insert into the BIOS to acquire NVMe support (so instead of nvme.ffs, nvmeint13.ffs and nvmesmm.ffs just one file named NVMeExpressDxE.ffs). Do both of this procedures work or is it better to use yours. I am also wondering if the uncompressed version of the NVMeExpressDxE.ffs is the correct one for me since there are 3 available, BIOS size is around 8MB (8192KB).

And one final question. What is the safest way to flash BIOS of a Gigabyte motherboard?

I managed to insert the module and I flashed the BIOS with success from within BIOS using QFlash. I left some modules alone until there is need - no raid atm.

I`m now preparing for windows installation and I hope it will work.

Flashing an ASUS BIOS file with the extension ".CAP"
These types of ASUS' BIOS files are capsuled and write protected, which makes it impossible to flash a modded .CAP BIOS the usual way.

Hi, Thank you for quick replay.
At the moment I have got the newest bios which is available on Asus website ver 1903. I downloaded older one ver 1802 and I modded this bios by adding nvme support. I saved bios and I used this Asus tool to rename file.
I followed the instruction:
1. format USB memory to FAT32
2. copy BIOS into pendrive (turn off computer)
3. insert pendrive to flashback USB port and press button.
4. LED blinking for very short time, a 3-4 times
5. When I turn on pc and check version of BIOS still I have got 1903.

May I flashback using a bin or rom file?

hi, i am new in bios modding, this is my experience and problem :

i modified logo in bios, i tryed to flash it to bios with afudos i got error :

afudos modded.rom /p /b /k
secure flash enabled
loading capsule to secure memory
18 - error: unable to start a secure flash session. Sad

i tried afudos modded.rom /gan and it flashes all blocks correctly but after i rebooted logo was not changed :(

i did not find any clear guide to remove security capsule headers please help me with a good link

* even if i tryed to flash back the backup of the original setup i got the same "secure flash enabled" error!!! why?!!

Please help. I have long been know as flashing modified Bios.CAP ,It fails me for 10 days Flash modified.I'm already crazy with it. When I flash the BIOS error dump me: Flash BIOS FAILED . It is locked for flash modified bios. I have Asus Maximus Formula 6 - Z87.I want to use the Samsung 960 EVO or 950PRO for the booting with Winx64-8.1pro,. I have PCIe3 x 4 Adapter ready.But my board does not have NVMe option. Can You please HELP someone already Unlocking modified BIOS 1603 with NVMe driver and I could flash it?
When is possible and functional and which bought 960EVO - NVMe1.1 version, or 950PRO - NVMe1.0 version?
