@jbelunico for the ACPI error you need to replace the original acpi.sys by the modded one in the installation media from here: Windows XP SP3 32bit and modern PC parts (149)

At last, I am successful! I have installed Windows XP Professional in WD Green M.2 2280 SSD in my MSI Z97 Gaming 7 motherboard without any BSOD! And I'm ready to share my Windows XP Professional ISO if it is helpful to anyone. I have used Intel(R) SATA AHCI Controller DEV_8C82 added by Fernando.

Bikas I find this strange you are getting an ACPI error? Are you certain you are getting BSOD A5 or 7B?

If you are using Z97 that is Broadwell and should work with ACPI natively. Also it has SATA IDE Compatibility mode option to install XP without needing SATA AHCI driver to install.

Can you confirm your motherboard BIOS shows SATA IDE or IDE Compatibility Mode option?

Also confirm which BSOD error you had was A5 or 7B?

Glad to see another XP install. And you are from India. Is it true India still uses XP on a majority of their computers still and what are you using XP for?

@XPLives Yes, I know that I can easily install any version of XP without AHCI driver if I set the BIOS of Z97 in IDE mode, but my target was not that, the BIOS is in AHCI mode before and after installing Windows XP. And for the 1st time, I did not see any BSOD. Actually, I use multiple OS in multiple SSD/M.2, Now there are 3 OS in my Boot menu, 2 are Windows 10 64 bit, and 3rd is Windows XP 32 bit. I also patched this windows XP 32bit to use the full RAM strength (32GB). And one thing, I have not used any GPT, all are in MBR. Only one problem, I could not find any driver for Gigabyte GT 1030 graphics card. I think I should downgrade to Zotac GT 710 for driver support in XP.

And you asked why I am using Windows XP. I am a Music Arranger and record technician. I use Nuendo, Adobe Audition, FL Studio, Reaper etc as DAW. I have to use several VST and VSTI for my work. I am addicted to 2 old VSTi of Steinberg, Groove Agen 2 and Virtual Bassist 2. They did not work in Windows 7 or Windows 10 (even in 32-bit versions too, but I don't know about Vista, because it is a very bad OS I think). So I have to use Windows XP for these two VSTi.

No, it is not true that in India XP is still used because in modern Computers XP installation is not so easy. The majority are using Windows 10, and some are still using Windows 7.

Again I have a question, is it possible to find a driver for GT 1030 in Windows XP 32bit OS? If not then I should downgrade to GT 710 which have driver support for Windows XP.

@bikas Well, you can modify the 368.81 drivers using this guide and add your card's HWID along with the card name, but then you will only have 2d acceleration working, 3d acceleration is botched.

1. Download this driver frm here https://www.nvidia.com/Download/driverRe...px/105040/en-us
2. Unpack this exe with 7-zip (Unpack it to a folder).
3. Navigate to Display.Driver\nv4_dispi.inf, go to [NVIDIA_Devices.NTx86.5.1] section
4. Add the HWID (%NVIDIA_DEV.XXXX% = Section008, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_XXXX

XXXX is your device ID, search in devman for what the GPU HWID is.

5. Go to [Strings] section, and add this: NVIDIA_DEV.XXXX = "NVIDIA GeForce GT 1030"
XXXX is your device ID, search in devman for what the GPU HWID is.

Resave this file and run setup.exe

Device manager --> Right click on GPU device (Either in other devices section or in display adapter section, either way it should have VEN 10DE) --> Properties --> Details --> Hardware identificators @bikas

@IntiMD , I searched Device Manager in Windows XP and also in Windows 10 with latest graphics driver, I got same. I am attaching what I get. Now I am confused about which part I should write in place of XXXX

@bikas In place of XXXX - 1D01.

I've mentioned this before, but just to be sure. What you should expect from the driver is that there's only 2D acceleration working for Geforce 10 Series. 3D acceleration fails!

Which patch are you using for full 32GB memory? Is this showing in your usable OS system memory?

Can you pull up your Task Manager and snapshot and upload here?

Yes for software compatibility it is better to run in Windows XP 32-Bit, even some programs do not work correctly in XP 64-Bit.

The GT 1030 would not be a good pick for running XP as it will run in the built in VGA MS driver.

The INF modification IntiMD suggested I don't believe worked on any Pascal+ graphics card and only for Maxwell and earlier which is what that guide lists. The GT 1030 is a Pascal generation or 1000 series.

I believe I had tried that technique and the GTX 1050Ti resulted in an Error 10 Code and didn't load the graphics driver and defaulted to the built in MS VGA driver. Any scrolling or moving of Windows you will notice jerkiness, tearing, or slow down and any program that uses DirectX might not function.

Since you are using XP and W10 you should use the GT 710 for your needs which don't seem too demanding and works for XP, Vista, W7, W8, and W10 as all drivers are available for it. You can find this model in single slot and fanless and PCIe slot powered so easy plug and play.

None of the 32-Bit versions including Vista, W7, W8, or W10 will run XP 32-Bit software as well as XP 32-Bit.

But the Vista Ultimate 64-Bit with SP2 and the DX11 patch would be my favorite 64-Bit for usability. For gaming Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit would be enough. I find Windows 10 the poorest user interface just above Windows 8.

I also realized one other option for you for video and audio but I have not tested it but it may work for you since you are on Broadwell which might be able to use this specialized XP embedded graphics driver and HDMI audio output for your Intel iGPU.
