Bad luck up to now trying to boot the PC with XP with the AHCI drivers as stated here ....
The steps I followed:
1) detected the proper driver: in Linux I read

00:1f.2 SATA controller: Intel Corporation Device 8c82
 

, so I downloaded the driver here
2) created with Winlite the XP installtion cd, including SP3 and drivers (the one with 8c82)
3) booted the pc with AHCI selected for the SATA
4) booted the computer with the CD. The setup procedure starts, I do not press any F5 or F6, and when windows restarts I get the blue screen.

I am bit frustrated.... What could I have done wrong? What shall I try? I can identify the following possible reasons:
1) The optical drive is an external USB drive
2) the PC has 8 GB ram (in one single block)
3) I chose the wrong driver :)

I tried that too, as a matter of fact... I just did not report it, my fault. I tried with "standard PC"... maybe I should try something esle too?

I feel I read it with carefully, but please help again if the doubt arises again :)

Ok, wrong driver, that's the starting point I suppose.

as to your questions:
1) I cannot trace back the origin of the source
2) I am pretty sure I did not integrate anything else. If this happened, that was definitely not my intention
3) Not that I am aware of. Still, shit happens....

as a further info, I had to integrate the SP3 because this was not in the xp source.

I will definitely check this. Would this be an issue? I suppose other drivers might interfere, am I wrong?

In the meanwhile, I have also double checked the SATA specification of the MB.
here I read:

I fear I might have to integrate the ASMedia driver. I honestly cannot understand wether the HD are connected to the ASM or to the Intel (does such a doubt make sense, btw?)

no WINNT.SIF in the i386 directory

I confirm that HDs are connected to the SATA managed by the Intel Z97

Bad luck again: I re created an ISO with the (hopefully) proper driver and SP3, and burned it as in the photos, but I still get the error.
What could I do differently?

unfortunately I can only update the list of unsuccessful tries:
I incorporated he AHCI driver in a clean XP SP3. Still, the BSOF appears.

I donwloaded and burned the WIN10 Iso (thanks for the tipp). I don't have a "spare" HD to try it. Is it possible to retrieve the necessary information from the recovery console?
As an alternative, would is it be possible to integrate the ASM drivers as well as the Intel ones? These should be the only two possible controllers (according to the manual and to the lspci command)
