Could you make something like that to get the power from the original pins in the socket to the extra pins on the i5-8400? It’s a low power chip, so the current draw should not be an issue for the power coming from the board. The problem would be trying to force the current for six cores through the wrong pins on the chip.

Would you need to have separate traces for every pin, or could all the 12v be wired together, and all the GND wired on one line as well? That would spread the current draw across the socket pins to avoid burnout on that side.

Can succeed
But cpu voltage 1.48v very high

try on Asus ROG VIII Formula with i5 8600K = No Boot :(

Asus Z170M-PLUS: PCIe fixed, but the voltage still high(1.48v) Voltage fixed

Update: It seems the voltage is normal now when I flash again. :)

ASUS Z170-PRO
i3-8100 so far, BCLK overclock as well

Patch works. tested patcher 1.2 & 1.3. Both ok.

WARNING: Flash only bios for your MB!

I have a Gigabyte Z170 HD3P motherboard.
Is there any luck to follow the guide or just flash a modded bios and make it support hexa-core Coffee Lake CPU'S?

Use low level flash tool like :
1) Intel's FPT
2) patched Gigabyte's EFIFlash
3) AMI's AFU

after GOP/VBIOS/Microcodes and "pcie_patcher.cmd biosname"
bios boot up, but
cpu voltage 1.48 too high
m.2 pcie X4 ssd not seen by the bios

it seems that pcie patch is not working
