In my search with all he bios created here, i had a gr8 moment where i found this particular one that when i placed the asus huper card on the pcie slot closest to cpu it recognised 2x of the adata sx8200 pro on positions 1&2 in the card. something happened and i reloaded a bios but never again found hat one again. all others since only show just 1 of the sx8200 pro in the card in what ever slot i put it in. I was wondering if some one had managed to get all the 4x m.2 ssds in the asus hyperm.2 x16 card to be seen. Or if any one has come across that particular bios (not sure if it was for the sabertooth x79 either, as this is probably my 3rd day here and kind of a little conufsed with all i read so far). Please if you could let me know by some miracle or coincidence, as i havent found anything to make all ssds visible.).

Hi guys, since i came across this forum, i have not been able to put it down, im finding my self facinated by what you guys have done with the Bioses. Started to get bitten very hard with the bug to learn all i can from what u guys do. I'm still dealing with my sabertooth x79 mainboard and the asus hyper m.2 x16 pcie expansion card i have with the 4x 2T adata xpg sx8200 pro 2tb. When I bought it the seller said it would take it. I have found out that in 99% of the cases it only sees the top slot #1 in the card. Only on one occasion a few days ago, i was going through all the bioses mods i could download from u guys and running them. thinking that 1 of them was the one that would show all the m.2s, i kind of have learned a hell of a lot from all the gurus here and the postings.

Only on 1 occasion which i cannot for some reason recreat, 1 particular bios showed 2x m.2 on the windows formating screen for a clean install of windows 10, cant remember if it was eufi or legacy as i learned about that much later.
i was just going through 1 bios after another in search of the 1 beleiving would show all m.2. Im wondering if its not showing more then 1 for a particular reason, bios size, architecture, is it hard coded, not enough speed and passage on the pcie slot to do more and left at 1 for best work scenario thinking. the adapter card was in the x16 slot closest to the cpu at the time. i wonder is it cause things are shared? a setting on the bios. so what im doing is gpt formated all the m.2s with name 1..4. puting them in each card slot see if it sees them, then changing from closet slot to cpu (i think its called SLot 1, Iou1 - PCIe port its 4x4/8x one even thought manual says that a 16x, im thinking it should be like: 6X/8xx8X/8X4X4X/4x4x8x/4x4x4x4x om yjr Bigurcation but i have no idea beyond this -- YET. I get it confused a little as Bifurcation says IOH PCIe port above. I have learnt that the las 16x 3.0 port is a ful size slot but its only wired 1/2 way.

The other thing i cant remember if it was some other X79 family type of bios say from p79xp. back then on monday/tuesday of this past week had not even the concept of what u guys call a bricked system, again learned itall this week, i know i did a lot of things with massive ignorance and thanks to the good LORD above nothing happened to the pc, (i have a terrebly soft spot for the sabertooth x79 and the i7-3970X i got in it with the 64GB of ram- see this was my dream and living it.

I dont even know if there might be limitations with the adapter card of its damaged, as it was almost $100 and can quite buy another to compare.
So please if anyone out there reads my post (assuming i am doing this communicating correctl7- i guess i should go over all the post here etc, but this im doing and learning is giving me such an euphoria thas nothing short of addictive (i dont think i slep more then 2 hours per day, plus working in between, its like a drug- hell im just loving it).

All this here is kind of a bit much to process and im kind of picking with things that stick with me, the more i read the more i get.

IF any one out there can let me know anything, it would be so very much apreciated.

@fastedu - only three is possible, some bug with ALL Asus X79, you need to change the correct IOU setting in the PCH I/O area of the BIOS to allow 8x4x4x o4 4x4x8x etc like you were mentioning - Any BIOS that says "Bifurcation" will have these menus, such as the one I will link below for NightRanger

I have the asus p9x79 pro bios 4801 with bootable nvme mod
Is there a way to add bifurcation support? I tried the tutorial but I'm having issues with finding the right hexa codes to locate what I even need to change
I recently bought the asus hyper m.2 x16 v2 card so I can have multiple ssds but I'm having issues.
Do I have any luck with adding bifurcation mod?

Right, well I did the update, all fine, however, no matter how I reset the RAID0 array up it would not deftect that it existed... so, something that we do enabling the PCI buses disables the RAID0, I had to go back to the original 4701 and thankfully my RAID0 array stayed in tact. Looks like my dreams of booting off an NVMe drive are now squashed unless I remove RAID0 from my system and that would be a massive shame. However, I think wha I could do is, use a standard IDE drive, clone the RAID array to the IDE drive... THEN update BIOS again, forget about HARDWARE RAID, clone ther IDE to the new NMVe drive as bootable instead... this may work!!!

EDIT:Ignore me, it works, I'd weirdly missed one setting off the selection and hey presto works, so RAID0 is back again. So, my new card comes on Monday and will clone windows onto it and hopefully should then boot, will report back with speeds. Ended up going with the following due to people having problems with the ASUS quad card, I decied to go balls deep and just ordered:

* ASRock Ultra Quad M.2 Card
* Sabrent 2TB Rocket Nvme PCIe 4.0 M.2 2280 Internal SSD

Even though I know PCIE-3.0 will limit the speeds of 3400 MB/s (read) and 2750 MB/s (write) instead of 5000 MB/s (read) and 4400 MB/s (write), I'm future proofing for when I move rigs to more modern equipment. However, can I thank you guys for the mods and hopefully I'll get more than one of these cards working together! Cheers fellas.

Hi, guys.
Is there a way to make bifurc showing all four subslots? No matter how I set and which slot I use my ASUS Hyper m2. card shows only 2a,2c or 3a,3c slots in windows. No 2b/d or 3b/d at all. However in UEFI I see all of them, even with some duplications. There are some other issues as crash after having option use over 4g region or others but the main pain is not being able to use all my 3 NVMe drives over this ASUS card. I can change their location but still no matter wher I put themIt sees 2 drives and always as 2a/c or 3a/c 8,4,4 or 4,4,4,4 works the same way and gives the same results - only 2 or 3 a/c - it never gives b+d at all. I used UEFI's 4701 and 4801 of your as well with the same (pretty much) results. Thanks
Second fig is with bifurc 4801 and fig 3 shows those duplication I mentioned. :)

X79 ASUS stuff has issues with two of the four bifurcation ports on ASUS M.2 x16 card.
You can only use two of the four NVMe drives on it.

Is this ASUS thing only or all producers of x79 MOBOs are affected by this issue?
