I think it does copy those USB files but it fails to work in XP because Intel did something to the USB 3.0 Ports which removed some sort of USB 2.0 compatibility layer so the only way you could use Intel USB 3.0 Ports is if you could slipstream them into an XP optical disc. But here lies the problem no Intel USB 3.0 XP drivers exist so Skylake will never install via Intel USB port. It might work with a 3rd Party USB port if they have XP drivers. But again there are too many issues trying to use the USB to install XP. Stick with a SATA optical drive and hard drive/SSD plugged into the Intel SATA port. Slipstream the modified SATA AHCI XP driver and plug in a genuine PS/2 Keyboard into your PS/2 Keyboard Port. If you can't do any of these minimums before attempting it then you will be wasting a lot of time and pulling hair out. Again a mouse is NOT required to get through the XP Setup process.

1) Yes, thats the VC500 from Diamond. Diamond and ATI share similar chips. Yes, I highly recommend them. Video/audio and software is my forte; but not PC hardware (as you can see).
2) Spend some time here: http://www.digitalfaq.com/forum/video-capture/ They love the ATI All-in-wonder cards, but I'm not willing to get an old used motherboard and old parts just for that.
3) The composite/RCA are what you want. the S-video signal from most players (possibly barring my Pioneed HLD-X9) has an inferior 3D comb filter (separating the chroma) that you're much better off relying on the software programs to do that inside your PC. Protip: do NOT de-interlace, as its part of the original source signal; when you do, you're losing 50% of the picture. It doesn't work like progressive DVDs do. Let the TV do the de-interlacing or showing it at all full 60i.
4) what laserdiscs am I ripping? We can take that convo offline. Are you looking to purchase any titles in particular?
5) Pioneer HLD-X9. It flips. I imported it from Japan.

The best laserdisc player ever is supposed to be the Pioneer HLD-X0, it was only ever made in Japan only, and I've never seen it sold on Ebay, and when it does, its way out of my price range ($2-3,000 and up): **HLD-XO -CLICK HERE**

I think you would be better suited for writing the initial introduction and guide since this is your website and should have more of your flavor. I could try and modify what you wrote if that's okay with you later down the line for the final product and my current XP installation guide is still a work in progress as I'm still testing other "workable" and "non-workable" methods but at the moment under my guide "Hardware Prerequisites" are 100% guaranteed to work at the moment on our motherboard which should work on any other Series 100 and 200 motherboards. I haven't tested this on Z87 / Z97 Haswell or Broadwell so whether or not USB based or hard drive folder based installations work on those or the USB floppy based SATA AHCI driver insertion method works that could be tested by users on this site or if I decided to buy a Z87 / Z97 series motherboard I could update whether or not they failed similar to 100 and 200 Series. But I think if I were to write the guide I would go with what should work with all motherboards guaranteed which is the common denominator that I outlined. I spent a week almost two weeks to be exact testing every Windows 2000 and XP service pack and non service pack and used my DOS image program to restore the OS back to its original unaltered state for driver testing as well. Most of this stuff is very time consuming so the XP installation guide I wrote is just a condensed form of what actually will work so far. Most people installing something as ancient as XP OS will have their reasons. Some need the software since that particular software was not updated for a later version of Windows so they had no choice. Or their hardware only has drivers for XP and nothing later. Another reason that I can think of is for gaming since myself I prefer running games in their native OS instead of in a virtual environment which is slower and may not be 100% compatible. It also opens up the possibility that some users may have the knowledge to hack or modify XP 32-bit so it can use 64GB of memory instead of 3.2GB. I know a few Ramdrive software out there that can make use of the memory above 3.2GB. But I'm more interested in finding a way to for XP itself to use that memory for programs which I why I proposed Windows 2003 Server as part of the sub forum title since it is 32-bit based as well but can use up to 64GB and has a similar code to Windows XP.

I think the main common denominator I outlined in the Hardware Prerequisites - under the Orange section are vital in order to install XP from my own troubleshooting and feedback from other users who ran into issues which I later modified as a requirement.

Unfortunately the blank lines I use them to separate out my ideas so they can be easily read. If I grouped everything together into one long paragraph it can be harder to follow along. If I were writing assembly code I might remove all spaces when possible and blank lines to conserve space and memory usage. I would try bullet points if they would help but I still feel that empty lines spacing is an effective tool to break down procedure so it's easier to follow. I have worked on condensing and eliminating more empty line spacing recently since you've edited quite a few of my messages so I hope that is visible to you. But as a compliance tool your idea of spoilers I have implemented in my XP installation hardware guide in an effort to reduce the amount of empty lines where possible but also to break it down into logical chunks that can be minimized or expanded spoilers instead of one long mass of words.

Thanks in return for hosting this site and the initial help / resistance as unbeknownst to you it actually helped me learn to modify the drivers myself and test out some of them on my spare system the motherboard we share in common. This build is actually not for me specifically but a friend of mine which I wanted to try and get XP / W7 / W10 functional in a multiOS boot but using SATA AHCI mode. I actually yesterday or should I say this early morning here was successful in getting the USB 3.1 controller to work in XP post XP install. I might have to do some further tests / experiments in seeing whether or not it can be slipstreamed in order to have a USB mouse or USB keyboard functional through that USB 3.1 port during the XP install. Although in my case I am using a PS/2 keyboard in the PS/2 keyboard port so I never lost keyboard input functionality which you described as not working and gave up trying to proceed further. As for the USB mouse I have verified that it does work in all the USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports on the rear side except the USB 3.1 port without any additional drivers aside from your Intel SATA AHCI driver nLite slipstreamed and works even on SP0 - Non Service Pack, SP1, SP2, and SP3.

I just want to clear up some things regarding your XP install attempt which you can later incorporate into the introduction / guide.

Which version of XP version and build number did you install? (XP Home, Pro, Media Center, 32-bit, 64-bit, English, German, et cetera)
Example:
Windows XP Professional SP3 Version 5.1.2600 - Going to the Command Prompt you will see the version and build number. You can also type "VER" in the Command Prompt window.

Can you confirm during your last XP test on the Asrock Z170 Fatal1ty Gaming Pro i7 motherboard did you use a genuine PS/2 keyboard in the PS/2 keyboard port and not a USB keyboard nor a USB keyboard with a USB to PS/2 adapter?

And can you verify the BIOS settings matched mine under the USB mouse settings I outlined in my XP installation Guide? From memory I believe my USB BIOS settings were default and not altered so maybe you can check under your own BIOS settings to see whether yours matches mine?

Is there a way I could later upload modified inf or driver files or does this require some form of moderator access?

I think honestly everything could be deleted from post #718 and on.
It seems more like a private conversation about USB/multimedia/video capture/motherboard hardware.
I don't really want the public internet knowing all about my laserdisc player and equipment and what I'm doing.
I can continue with XPLives in private messages back and forth.
I do not see any option where I can delete my own posts.
Would you mind deleting the rest of the messages after #718?

Ahh first time using this @ :)

Okay... just finished starting a new thread under the new Sub forum more focused on getting the on board hardware devices to run in XP since I think the original Sub forum was more focused on installing XP on modern hardware.

I combed through my BIOS settings and typed up all I think may or may not be relevant but do a comparison of yours with mine to see if any of these options are different and make a note of it. I might try disabling or enabling these to isolate if one or more of these options gave me USB mouse functionality without additional drivers.

Okay if you can't install the XP yet maybe you can take the time to scan my BIOS options and compare them with yours and let me know the differences if any.

I will alter my BIOS settings one at a time to match yours and see if it nullifies the USB mouse functionality and let you know. If matching all your BIOS settings has no effect I might later try upgrading to your BIOS version and try it again just to be certain it works on v7.30.

But if I still retain USB mouse functionality with all things equal the only major difference I can see is our Windows XP versions and Language.

I think previously I tested your driver it resulted in the "iaStor.sys is corrupted".

So it should prove interesting if you found a way to resolve this. :)
