What kind of MOBO do you have? Is it an ASUS? Or ASRock?

USB card chipset? Do you mean a PCI-E card that has 4 USB ports on it, and it should have XP drivers? And be "Skylake" compatible? That I can integrate into the XP install?
I'm weary of all this hacking/modding/fiddling because if I'm not using the drives and drivers to their full speed capacity, then I'm going to have trouble capturing live video, and don't want to drop frames.

No, I'm saying they never worked except for USB mouse functionality. Like I said before there are no XP drivers for the built in USB controllers yet. Maybe with some modding of the drivers it might be possible but I did try modifying the Intel USB controllers but they don't work. It's easier to get a cheap off eBay 3rd Party USB 4 Port Card I recommended in my guide if you need full access to USB devices other than a mouse.

If you're just trying to install XP all you need is just a PS/2 Keyboard connected to a PS/2 port on the back place of your motherboard.

If it doesn't have it I don't think you can get through the setup. Look into nLite there are some automated options for XP for unattended install. I know you can enter the CD-key there so it's automated during the install. I did it before so I didn't have to type the CD key in every time I tested.

As for the other options I'm not entirely sure if all can be done inside the TXTSETUP.SIF, but if all options can be entered through that file than in theory you won't have to use the keyboard at all and thus it should install till completion which would actually at least get you to a working desktop. But then again you are screwed because without a mouse you can't do nothing. Although if you bought that USB card in my guide you could slipstream the USB drivers into the nLite ISO which after it got to the desktop all USB ports should in theory work.

I can't think of any other way in your situation to get around this problem.

Depends if the USB Controller is 3rd Party on Board. I know for a fact Intel USB 3.0 never made XP drivers so if you only have Intel USB Controllers on your motherboard than you can't. IF a 3rd Party USB Controller other than Intel has made XP drivers for their chipset then of course that's possible. I haven't looked around hard enough for a Skylake motherboard based on their USB controller supporting XP.

Just so you know starting with Haswell most companies dropped XP driver support so you are going to have dig harder to find one that is supported by XP.

When I buy a motherboard I try to buy one that has the most backward compatibility. You can't always find one that has SATA AHCI XP driver that's why you are here. You can't always find with USB controller with XP driver unless it's 3rd party and they created one. It's harder to make a driver from scratch. Spending $7 or so and waiting a few weeks isn't too bad of a trade off if this USB issue is your hold up.

Bottom line is if your goal is the most XP driver support and the most powerful CPU.

There are two options if you want to go back to the last generation with the best XP driver support:
Z68 or Z77 Chipset if you want to have max driver support for XP.

Server class
X79

If you go with anything higher like Haswell, Broadwell, SkyLake, Kaby Lake say goodbye to easy XP driver support without major hunting or modded inf files which either someone will have to do for you or you learn how to do it yourself. In the case of time it's easier to just buy something that will do it than spending countless hours trying to do the same thing.

If you want to have a Skylake or Kaby Lake motherboard that can run XP it should at least have these features below:

Make sure it has a PS/2 Keyboard port on the back.
Make sure there is at least an Intel SATA Controller.

All other driver issues can be taken care of by a AMD or nVidia graphics card with HDMI output, USB card, and Network Card if you want functionality in XP. Double check all the devices you buy for XP driver support before purchasing.

I think given your extreme situation buying an all in one computer lacking the PS/2 port you are in a worse spot to get XP running without spending countless hours creating an automated XP installation disc. If you have the time to look into that you might be successful. I haven't run into this problem so I haven't taken the time to try this out.

That part with the Blue background, White Foreground Text. That part isn't Windows yet. That's kind of the DOS portion and those drivers it's loading at the beginning from the optical disc is where it is stored. But once it goes into the Windows portion in Picture #2 is actually Windows XP and here is when you need USB drivers loaded for the USB controller. I'm going to assume this is where you lost all USB keyboard and USB mouse functionality.

As for keyboard shortcuts notice the "I accept this agreement" with a bubble? You can use the TAB key on the keyboard to get to that bubble and hit ENTER.

Okay I see what you're doing and why you are using XP.

Try the Hauppauge WinTV-HVR 950 model 01191: WinTV-HVR-950Q for ATSC, NTSC and clear QAM TV, with audio video adapter, remote control and portable antenna. English documentation.

This one can record from Composite Video like VHS tapes or old game consoles or camcorders.

This is a USB stick with break out cables. This has drivers for XP, W7, and W8. I'm sure W10 might also work too if you had to force the W7 driver.

It includes it's own capture software called WinTV. I use this myself to record HD TV channels.

The PCIe card version is the WinTV WinTV-HVR-2250 which also has a breakout cable for Composite Video. This one will probably be faster and less lag since it avoids using USB to transfer the video back and forth to the computer.

As for Black quality I haven't seen any problems and seems to record all my HD channels OTA just fine and sharp as the original broadcast.

Thanks for the Hauppage and Win-TV recommendations, I've tried both of those and they're not good enough for my needs.
With the Hauppage I still have the exact same USB issue.
I do have a PCIe version of the ATI that I already have a USB stick of. But I already have both my PCI-e slots used for the Nvidia graphic, and sblaster card, I don't have any slots left.
And if I'm getting a PCI-USB expansion card, then now I'm in a real pickle.

Well I can't speak for him/her so I can't tell you if he/she slipstreamed the correct driver in that case or what he/she did. I can only vouch for the USB card I listed in my XP installation guide that I tested and works and it was cheap around $7 but it took 3 weeks to arrive. The guy said he picked a NEC chipset which I have not tested. I did test a Fresco Logic 1100 and that USB card did not work in XP so avoid that brand at all costs. There are other 3rd Party USB cards and I don't have all the money and time to order and test each one to see if it works. The FL1100 I had someone order 3 of these before I installed it in my motherboard and when I started the build and found out later the XP drivers didn't work and it pissed me off. If you want to gamble on another 3rd party USB chipset that's up to you. I cannot guarantee any other would work and it took 3 weeks to arrive and was cheap so in my case it paid off. I have never tried or need to slipstream any USB drivers in my installations. I manually added the driver through the Hardware Device Manager. So without a PS/2 keyboard it will be tough to get there and install the driver manually.

I can only say on my motherboard which happens to be identical to Fernando's I had no issues using a cheap $10 USB mouse from Amazon without doing anything or adding any drivers other than the modded SATA AHCI driver. Even XP SP0 worked so Service Packs are not a requirement. It was a clean XP install and the mouse functioned the entire time. I'm baffled as to why Fernando couldn't use his USB mouse or why his input devices stopped working altogether. You can ask him yourself if he used a USB keyboard or a PS/2 keyboard because I can only guess he was probably not using a PS/2 Keyboard in the PS/2 Keyboard port. I gave him my instructions for using the USB mouse so if he's changed his BIOS settings differently than mine than perhaps that's why his USB mouse did not function in XP. I am also using the same exact BIOS revision and I doubt AsRock tweaks each motherboard when they should be identical. There is only one thing different I can assume would be different between my copy of XP and his. I think he's probably using a non US version of Windows XP. I don't know if he's using XP Pro, Home, or Media Center edition so these other versions of XP could affect the USB mouse functionality possibly but I doubt it.

What exactly is your source video footage coming from?

As for your motherboard slots is there a reason why you need the Sound Blaster card? It won't work in XP and with your graphics card you can use HDMI video/audio out so you can take the SB card out and put the USB card in there instead.

If you want to avoid any headaches and want XP fully functional on the best system possible.

Try the Sabertooth X79 I linked. It has 64GB Max. The X79 Fatal1ty only has 32GB Max so it is actually not the best server class motherboard.

When did this come out and when did you buy this?

ATI bought out Diamond I think and then AMD bought ATI out. I never thought any of this older stuff would be better than the new stuff.

So you highly recommend this device for capturing from Laserdiscs?

I am looking for a Laserdisc ripper but unfortunately I haven't found any that interface with a PC.

Most only have the composite and RCA audio connectors on the back.

Which Laserdiscs do you have that aren't on Blu-ray or DVD at this point?

Which Japanese Brand Model laserdisc player are you using?

I've only dealt with Pioneer and only one had the flip disc feature.
