It ran around 19h30 hours and got no errors. Then i was able to use it for days with no issues. And from nothing yesterday started giving problems. And yes im using F8. Soo far seemed the best for me. But maybe i should go back a few revisions to check if issue repeats

@POE_UK its definitely not the kit. Its new ( bought it not long ago ) it's a 4133mhz kit from GSKILL allegedly one of the Best kits available to purchase. about a week ago it was stable. Ran hci memtest without errors for about 20hours, no BSOD for about a week and two days ago gone ham. Got a blue screen, restarted pc and straight ran hci memtest. Got around 10 errors in less than a minute. Reduced the clock and been there for now since with work hadn't got the time to fiddle with it

Excuse me if I'm missing something I don't know, but wouldn't it make sense to use a separate thread to talk about other motherboards and leave this one for "Gigabyte modded AM4 X370 / B350 UEFIs" related stuff?. If someone like me, come here looking for news about his motherboard, will be confused with posts about BIOS version F5, F6, etc. Makes it hard to look for news.

Gigabyte pulled the F24 BIOS without explanation, but F25 has been out for a while now and the consensus seems to be that it's OK. Some are reporting they're able to run higher memory speeds with greater stability thanks to AGESA 1.0.0.6.

I've been using your modded F23 BIOS on my Gaming K7 for about the last 6 months, and it's been great. Only had one minor hiccup where, for some reason, the board or CPU randomly decided to retrain itself to use the memory. But I consider that to be a fluke. And ever since I switched to Single BIOS mode, I've never experienced any soft-bricking issues.

It would be a shame if you stopped doing modded BIOSes, since they're SO MUCH better than the vanilla Gigabyte ones. But I can understand if you're getting tired of fixing Gigabyte's shit. I think you also said you got rid of your Gaming 5 mobo? Still, I shudder at the thought of going back to the original BIOS and losing all those enhancements.

I just hope Gigabyte continues supporting X370/B350 for future CPU releases, like the upcoming Zen 2/Ryzen 3000 series. I could very easily see them dropping support, to try and force people to buy new motherboards. Especially with reports that their motherboard sales are down lately, and they're considering layoffs.

@redrain85 If I'm being completely honest I am tired of fixing Gigabytes clusterfuck. AFAIK F24 got pulled because like the fabled F7 it had a voltage bug that murdered some CPUs, insane level of soc voltage this time though I believe not vcore. Good thing I suppose is me being very public with how shit the X370 boards were and now the X470s everyone is talking about how awful GB boards are they couldn't contain it to their forums this time because I'm not a bought and paid for reviewer nor am I afraid of losing press samples. Fixing GBs mess takes quite a large chunk of time especially if I have to do everything from scratch where too much has changed so transplants don't work. Short of some donations for time for added motivation modded firmware will come when and if I can be arsed to save GBs arse... again.

I'm not buying an X470 board now. ASRock, or otherwise. Not with X570 boards arriving this year.

I'd probably choose ASUS or MSI before ASRock, anyway. Very unlikely I'll pick Gigabyte again, though.


I'll wait until X570 and Zen 2/Ryzen 3000 are both released, and then see what the situation is with Ryzen 3000 support on X370. Specifically, how Gigabyte handles it.

@ket I completely understand where you're coming from, and don't blame you for getting tired of it. That being said, I'll hold out hope you'll still consider modding Gigabyte X370 BIOSes.

While its all good and well buying the latest chipset boards, remember it takes about a year before they run properly, id much prefer to stick with a mature motherboard/chipset than have to go through all that again, if you think asus are better youd be wrong, in fact some are much worse no joke! so far up until right now, asrock have been the only board maker that have delivered what they promised, asrock are also the fastest to release new bios updates, in fact on my old x370 taichi (bloody good motherboard), asrock released 3 uefi's in the same time gigabyte did one.

X570 has nothing to offer me, im not interested in pci-e gen4, ill be sticking with my x470 gaming7 wifi for years, as ive already said, i will never ever again buy any motherboard without a removable cmos chip, dont care what brand it is.

Please i cant stress this enough, take review videos on youtube with a pinch of salt, they have absolutely no way of knowing how good any motherboard is after only using them for 2 hours, its all bullshit, end of the day these people are paid

That bald headed dude on kitguru is amongst the worst for this.

I know ASUS' reputation has been tarnished, lately. They've been cheaping out on the VRMs of some of their boards, for example. But their UEFI is probably the best of all the mobo manufacturers. If I went with ASUS, I'd be careful to choose a board that has uniformly positive reviews. Both press, and user, reviews.

I always read/watch multiple reviews, before I buy anything. That includes the user reviews. In case the "pros" leave anything out.

In the case of the Gigabyte AX370 Gaming K7: I was aware of the soft-bricking issue, due to user reviews, when I bought it. But I attributed that to either immature firmware, or PEBKAC. So I took a gamble, because the price and feature set of the board looked the best out of all the options, at the time. Unfortunately, the gamble didn't really pay off. It turned out to be a defect in the board itself. (That still seems to exist, even in the Gigabyte B450/X470 boards. Going by reports on the Gigabyte forum.) Fortunately, it can be overcome by switching to Single BIOS mode. Since then, soft-bricking has never happened. But, it was still a mistake to buy this board, and I won't make that kind of mistake again.

A removable BIOS chip is nice, but in theory ASUS' and MSI's BIOS Flashback feature – where you don't need a CPU to flash your BIOS – will allow you to recover from corruption. So you won't be permanently hosed, and won't need to RMA the board. Unless the BIOS chip is physically damaged, somehow. (ASRock only seems to have BIOS Flashback on their TR4 socket X399 boards, so apparently AM4 socket owners are out of luck.)

As for X570: The rumor is that ASMedia wasn't able to produce a new X570 chipset in the timeframe that AMD wanted, so AMD is now designing the chipset themselves. And it's going to be a derivative of their EPYC Rome chipset. If X570 is based on EPYC, then it should be pretty damn good. Since enterprise customers expect EPYC and its chipset to be reliable and stable, and this should trickle down to and benefit the end-consumer.

P.S. And, yes, I know EPYC technically doesn't have a "chipset". It's fully a SoC, or more accurately SoP/SiP, design. But it's easier to describe what's migrating from EPYC as the "chipset".
