I'm sorry if this should be simple/easy to find, but I've been unable to find an answer with my googling (maybe using the wrong words). I have a MSI Z77A-G45 MB computer with an SSD boot drive and a 3 disk Raid 5 array for data. The MB went belly up and I need a new one. I would like to upgrade my processor which requires a new socket and different MB. I'm hoping that as long as I get a MB that uses Intel RST Raid tech I should be able to reinitialize it without loosing data.

Basically, I need to make sure I'm buying the right MB. Then I need to figure out how to get everything running again with it. Any help or links to helpful instructions is much appreciated!!!

Welcome at Win-RAID Forum!

You can purchase any Intel Chipset mainboard (except X79 and X99), which supports RAID5, and you will not get any problem.
All you have to do is to enter the BIOS of the new mainboard, to set the Intel SATA Controller to RAID mode and to redo your current settings within the BOOT section (CSM/UEFI support).
Then reinsert your current disk drives in the same order as now.

If you're trying to recover a RAID array these folks may have the software you need to do the job, assuming you've failed to make adequate back up.
It may take some time but they might be your best bet, rather than popping off $2000.00 to a data recovery outfit.

Recovery from borked RAID 0 and RAID 5 arrays but you'll probably have to pony up some money to recover all your data...

EDIT by Fernando: The link to the recommended tool and its description has been removed, because it smells as being Spam. The RAID array of zachavm hasn't been broken. So there is no need for such tool.

Wonderful Thanks!!! I'm looking into black friday sales right now. I'm considering this one now, but I also am wondering if I should wait for a i7 combo deal. Will cyber monday offer better sales? Who knows. Anyway, here's the one that is currently being considered. From your post, I believe I'm good to go.

OK. I've got the new motherboard and processor in. I'm ready to set it up. Could you possibly give me a little bit more specific instructions. I should likely be fine, but this is what understand so far.
- Install new motherboard with drives not hooked up.
- Change bios setting to RAID mode
- Save and Turn off
- Install the new drives to the same SATA slots on the new board that they were in on the old board.
- Restart and enjoy.

Yes, do what you have written.
As long as you do not enter the RAID Utility and break the old RAID array, you cannot do a severe mistake.

Thank you so much. In reality, all I had to do was turn on raid and it found all the settings for me. Here is my picture of the startup after I plugged in the drives for the first time. In reality, this was the easiest part. All the hassle was in installing a new motherboard and getting all the drivers right after install.
