Hello everyone!

I'm having a bit of trouble with the RST drivers for my PC.
On Windows 7, the drivers I use (Driver v13.1.0.1058 - OROM v13.1.0.2126 ) works wonders, but on Windows 10 (no matter which I use) makes one of my drives do a click sound.
But, as soon as I uninstall the drivers, install the Microsoft ones and SHUTDOWN, it goes back to normal.
I I DON'T shutdown, the drive will continue to click even when in the BIOS.

I also have tried the modded v14 drivers with v14 OROM, but the same thing happens.

Anyone has a suggestion?

I don't think, that it is the driver, which makes the "click" sound. Such sound usually indicates a hardware problem.
Questions:
1. What sort of HDDs/SSDs are you using?
2. Have you done a clean install of Win10 or did you upgrade from Win7?

It might have to do with AAM/APM. Try to disable them with CrystalDiskInfo or Hard Disk Sentinel or Hard Drive Inspector or any other tool and check if the sound goes away. You can then reset to default or what it was before. They should be off anyway, as they wear the drive faster. The Power Options is another way to go to fine tune this setting. But from your posts, it must be a bug that triggers the parking before its time.

If the HDD should be ok, I suspect a Win10 issue, which hopefully will be solved by Microsoft in the near future.
What about the "Power Options"? Which option have you chosen and have you already tried another one?

This is a known problem with RST, first discovered with the 13 release drivers.

People have reported that their drive has died over time, and one possible solution was to turn off APM.

Ok, so, I'm back.
After breaking my Win10 installation by taking a dump on the drivers, by mistake.

So, after disabling AAM, it worked.... for the session. Untill I restarted, it started to click again.
Then, i read the new post by @Horstfuchs

That made me remember that I had a similar problem in the past with the v13 driver and also, with the same HDD, the Samsung F3.
So, i just Installed v12.9.4.1000 RST driver, it worked. And, since it works on Win 10 too, I installed it on Win 7 just to be safer.

Everything is great now!

I back to 11.7 glad that newer work just fine. I have raid with F4e and all of them are clicking :P annoying like hell.

Small tutorial how to avoid it

1. Download RST <12.9.0.1000 (or elier) from Intel webpage f6flpy-x64.zip file (if you are on 64bit) or f6flpy-x86.zip (if you want 32bit)
2. Unpack it on flash drive
3. Instal W10-> when you choose partition click load driver
4. Select driver on flash drive (it will take a little of time)
5. Now you can install windows 10
6. When windows will want to reboot turn off computer at UEFI/Bios post massage.
7. Kick out power cable and wait one minute
8. Turn off computer.

W10 made my hard drive 800 on/off in 7 days. That's more than last 3 years.
