@Fernando Have you ever used the Rapid mode setting with Magician? if so, what did you think of it in relation to experiencing any extra performance, or not? I have an 850 EVO 500Gb in my HP Pavilion 3032 notebook, and the only reason I use Magician is for the Rapid mode, which going by the program's benchmark, it about doubles the read/write performance. But I haven't actually benchmarked it in the real world or tested it with any resource hungry program to see if there is any real need for Rapid mode.

EDIT 2] I have answered my own question, I just found the information which I can not recall if I have already read, and had forgotten?? but at the top of the page on Page 1 of this thread, it states that it is OK to use USB 2 ports [* from the same manufacturer] if updating the USB 3-3.1 drivers. I quote:
"Tips for the manual installation of USB 3.0/3.1 drivers: Before starting with the installation, you should make sure, that your input devices (keyboard and mouse) are connected with *USB 2.0 ports or with USB 3.0 ports from another manufacturer"
I think therefore I feel, to make this absolutely clear, the wording could be changed to: "Before starting with the installation, you should make sure, that your input devices (keyboard and mouse) are connected with USB 2.0 ports [from the same manufacturer] or with USB 3.0 ports from another manufacturer".
And maybe repeat the [clarification] above in the Intel USB 3-3.1 driver update section, where it is written in red, I quote:
"Notes Warning: Users, who don't have the option to temporarily switch to an USB port, which is managed by another (non-Intel) USB Controller, should not try to manually install these mod+signed USB 3.0 drivers! They may not be able to use any USB device after the update of the USB 3.0/3.1 Controller driver."
The above is a bit confusing because it makes it sound as though you can not use ANY USB port from the same manufacturer, where as the top of the page it states that a USB 2 port from the same manufactured is OK to use while updating the USB 3-3.1 drivers. I am only trying to add some constructive comments here, so that others might not get confused or miss that important point regarding USB 2 ports are OK to use.
ORIGINAL POST I'm guessing you are wanting to know which ports are USB 2 because you are going to update the USB 3-3.1 drivers to the latest ones kindly provided by Fernando, because as Fernando states on page 1 of this thread, you should not have any memory card connected to USB 3-3.1 when updated the Asmedia/Intel USB 3-3.1 port drivers? If I am correct, motherboards [and notebooks] have blue coloured USB 3 ports and black USB 2 ports on the rear panel connection plate. I take it that your MB does not have USB 3.1 ports on the rear panel connection plate? so you've had to connect a USB 3.1 expansion card. In any case, USB 3.1 of which there are 2 types [type A =red type C =black], type C looks completely different to USB 2 and USB 3 ports, so one can not get them wrong or mixed up, especially type C, because it is physically different.

There's a good explanation of what the Intel MEI [Management Engine Interface] is, at <page 1> of this thread. However and for the benefit of folks in general [suits] I shall quote some info from the introduction there [by plutomaniac].

recent BIOS update from 2202 to 3007 on the following system ....
Well, ASUS released a new MEI Driver (18.104.22.1689) but the BIOS is still the 2202 with the MEFW 22.214.171.1248. I wish they'd hurry up and fix it for the newer chips. <sigh>
ASUS have released an update for the Maximus VIII Ranger BIOS to 3007 and it includes an MEFW update to v126.96.36.1996. Hooray!! Here's a screenshot of a partial MEInfo output of my setup after the update:
Next I am going to try an MEI update, for although ASUS have included an update to v188.8.131.522 [which I have installed], I have seen a newer version here [Intel MEI-AMT_v184.108.40.2066 WHQL], which i am curious to see how it goes on this system.
Update: How silly-willy of me, the version I mentioned [Intel MEI-AMT_v220.127.116.116 WHQL] linked at page 1 of this thread, included the same MEI driver version from ASUS [v18.104.22.1682], which I had already installed, actually from extracting the driver.msi with 7zip from "Intel MEI-AMT_v22.214.171.1246 WHQL", which is why MEInfo is showing it as such, and which I completely forgot that I did do that. I would think that's why LMS version is showing as v126.96.36.1996.

Thank you for your feedback. I am hoping that it will fix a certain issue with hanging when left alone for 15 minutes with the youtube site running [with paused video], mostly, so it appears. It has started doing this right after updating the BIOS to v2202. Earlier BIOSs also gave me other problems mostly with standby, and stability. This version seemed to have fixed those issues but might have introduced this new one. But it might be OS related, will soon see after the ME FW update. Will report any thing I find here, in case it might benefit others. Thanks again.

Thank you for clarifying, now I get the picture. It's not unlike cars of the 1970s - 80s where I new pretty well each car make/model/motor-types etc. or computers of the early 1990s early 2000, these days I can hardly keep up with car/computer makes and models, and their "innards" coz there's that many different types/variations :)

However, and maybe it's because I missed it, I can not find a newer ME fw version than what my MB has, which is FW Version 220.127.116.118 H. Is there a new version available that someone can recommend for an ASUS Maximus VIII Ranger Z170 chipset Mobo? Anyone here with the same mobo share their experience with updating the MEI and or ME firmware they wish to share?
Hi folks can someone please recommend the best version of the Intel ME firmware update for an ASUS Maximus VIII Ranger MB and also the best latest Intel MEI version to update to. What's the difference between the Consumer Vs Corporate versions of these and which is recommended for my MB?
The Device ID in Device Manager for the intel MEI is PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_A13A&SUBSYS_86941043&REV_31 and going by the inf file for the VEN_8086&DEV_A13A is ME11.0 - SKL/SPT-H.
I bring up the latter because I could not find any reference for SKL/SPT-H in post 1 of this thread regarding the correct version 11.x and I quote:
"Warning 1 for 100/200-series: Make sure you choose the correct v11.x firmware SKU for your system which is based on target Platform and Feature set. There are 2 chipsets: PCH-H (Performance) and PCH-LP (Low Power). There are 4 cpu families: SKL/KBL-S, SKL/KBL-H, SKL/KBL-U and SKL/KBL-Y. In that post it states that the socket LGA1151 [which is what my MB has] is SKL/KBL-S? so why does the inf file for my device ID say it's an SKL/SPT-H? and why is there no mention of the SKL/SPT-H for the 100/200-series chipset in that post? I'm guessing that my MB is a Performance because of the "H" in SKL/SPT-H. Can someone please clarify or explain what version I need?
