never really used the RAPID option (well I did on a SATAII machine with plenty of RAM) but I still think is good to do all the tweaks in one single click.
I think we have to agree to disagree here.
Have a copy of SM 4.9.7 and not going to replace it.

      Hang on...
Since the early versions of Magician I never left it running in the background.
installed it, used all the useful options, removed it from startup and not used until there was a reason for it.
so no services and tasks running

    • elisw has written a new post "Recommended SSD Tools" 12.08.2016

agree with you but this forum is for advanced users and having an option is always good if you know what you are doing.
No encryption option, no overprovisioning option, no OS tweak option...
IMHO it is not really good to miss all those

    • elisw has written a new post "Recommended SSD Tools" 12.08.2016

Considered that the latest Magician version is a much simplified version, it might be useful to keep a link to the previous version as that version provides all the tweaking and optimization is not possible with version 5.0.

      @elisw:
So you would prefer a simple blue colored header background without any picture?

no but if you align the picture to the right and do not resize it, just stretching the last few pixels of it on the left, it will look much nicer IMHO

    • elisw has written a new post "New Forum Logo or back to the old header?" 11.21.2016

not exactly the desired answer, but both headers (old and new) are very deformed when seen on full screen.
the header stretches and isn't very pleasant to see.

      I agree.
the power consumption on the other hand could be of some interest.
to know which driver lets you save 30 minutes of battery could be very interesting....

    • elisw has written a new post "Performance of the Intel RST/RSTe AHCI/RAID Drivers" 11.17.2016

@Fernando have you ever tried a performance comparison with mobile chipsets/controller?
On mobile installations I think power consumption will change with different drivers, I just read an article on the latest Samsung 960 evo mentioning marked battery life variations with different drivers.
Maybe this applies also to SATA drives...

      Hi Dieter,
as with Huang Yi-Ping the driver is iaStor.sys v11.2.0.1006 and installed using the modded+signed version of the file, after installing the certificate.

      Hi,
I finally managed to install the AHCI driver from Intel on my Bay Trail.
it does work with no issues but performance is not superior to the Microsoft one.
after many runs these are the best results for each driver:

      Fernando,
to be honest some manufacturers and in some forums describe "chipset dirivers" as a broader groups of drivers, including those used for storage and connectivity.
It is a common misconception and many people mix up the meaning of those drivers

wow! Asmedia are delivering one version after another... wonder if there is really much between every version....

    • Zitat von Fernando im Beitrag #1175

Meanwhile I have installed this brandnew RST(e) driver v14.8.4.1046 onto my Z97 AHCI system, but I doubt, that it will be better for 8- and 9-Series Chipsets than the v13 series.

thanks for the useful link and please keep us all informed if you'll do some benchmarking!

    • sorry I suspect I was not clear.
      I run UBU.bat.
      I select the BIOS
UBU reads BIOS and show various modules.
I want to keep the original rst OROM
I want to update CPU microcode if available
I enter 7 and press enter for CPU microcode
I expect UBU to check CPU microcode
UBU instead replaces the rst OROM module with the latest!!!

I know my motherboard is a hybrid between 8 series and 9 series.
It shares much of its architecture with H97M ECO.
