i think he doese NOT boot usb flashdrive or DVD in uefi mode .... :D
if you want to install Win7 into an NMVE device, since win7 has not built in nmve driver you MUST press F6 during win7 installation and load samsung nmve driver from a Flash Usb.
Says that, i will advice you to use Win 8.1 x64 (if as me you dont like Win10 (that is in everyday betatesting and updating... :D)
becouse Win7 is too old to best support such new devices as nmve or Ssd in general.
Win8.1 + ClassicShell = Win7 "Service pack 2" :D
PS: i have csm in default mode not touched uefi end legacy
you will not see hdd on hdd list as it is not an sata hdd!
you will see it in the boot list UEFI if it has a UEFI boot partition, done AFTER you will install windows on it.
like that ->
[[File:NVMe SSD shown within BIOS.png|none|auto]]
just to be clear, the bios mod nmve module JUST scan PCI-E bus to find UEFI boot partions to be able to boot from PCIE "devices"
that in OUR case are HDD !!
Hope i have been clear .... :D
PS: what i have done is JUST use 3 tracks from Asus x79 Deluxe bios 4805 in the Asus X79 Sabertooth 4801
becouse ASUS is lazy to update its products bios!
meanwhile i do not understood why asus update X79Deluxe Motherboard and NOT Sabertooth that it was an expensive product!!!
PS2: i think my mod is better than Fernando one (sorry for saying this .. :D) becouse it replicate ASUS near-same-motherboard X79,
hope Asus has tested it on X79 deluxe :D
EDIT by Fernando: Unneeded blank lines removed and inserted image resized/attached via Forum Software (to save space within this already very voluminous thread)
i have succcessfully switched from Intel P3700 to 960 pro without new windows installation!
1) i have installed Samsung driver as second driver as i have showed some days ago
2) installed Samsung Nmve Windows driver.
3) Use Acronsi 2017 Boot Cd Iso to CLONE P3700 to Samsung 960 Pro (Windows 8.1 x64)
4) Power Off, remove Intel drive
No boot driver detected from Asus X79 Sabertooth as expexted.
5) mod my bios with Asus X79Delux 4805 by Extracting 3 tracks
and inserting in my 4801
6) Now My Asus X79 detectd Samsung 960 Pro and Windows Boot Manager
Have a nice day!
it's evening .. courier failed.... :(
hope for tomorrow ... having 960 pro on the desk and cannot use it is very frustrating

Hi imsims. I've got the same set up - sabretooth x79 with the 4801 bios. Just tried the intel 750 but win 10 install says it cannot use it as a boot drive. Did you do anything else to get it to work as a bootable option? Which pci-e slot are you using?
second 16x slot.
boot from CD or USB UEFI version.
i have installed successfully windows 8.1, so i think win10 do the same.
PS: i have just return it to Amazon and get an P3700 with high endurance .... 127TB of the intel 750 it's very low i have already write 4TB in less than 1 month!
P3700 endurance is 14 PB !
Note that on Z170 raid0 more than 2 pcie ssd will be useless as DMI 3.0 limit to ~4GB/s
i have sabertooth X79 bios 4801, i think same asus bios for all X79.
i'm able to boot from 750 with original bios. you don't?
ok, i think that hdsentinel ass a bug with 32bit variables .
when calculate x1000 value of data written.
just a very strange thing:
i have been out for 5 days, now power on my pc,
and intel 750 Data written unit is @ 32,46 GB.
5 days ago it was about 2TB !!!
anyone of you have checked this?
